In India, Children’s Day is celebrated each year on November 14th, as a tribute to the country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Jawaharlal Nehru, fondly called ‘Chacha Nehru’, was born on this day in 1889. He was known for his love for children, which is why his birthday is celebrated each year as Children’s Day. At Mauryan High, celebrations began in the morning assembly. The theme was “Masti Ki Pathshala”, that is, the idea was to make the children have plenty of fun. Teachers planned for this creatively. For instance, they performed a short comedy skit, where they played the role of students in a classroom lesson. Students found it hilarious to see grown-ups act like kids. Meanwhile, teachers in the pre-primary wing felicitated their students with handmade thank-you notes. The celebrations ended with a motivational speech by the principal and play-time for younger students in the playground.
